The Marie Curie International Research Staff Exchange Scheme in the People program of FP7 aims at strengthening research partnership through short staff exchanges and networking between European research organizations and organizations in Third Countries (such as the United States). This funding is open to all domains of research, except for the areas covered by the Euratom Treaty.

A partnership under this scheme needs to be composed of at least two independent participants (e.g., research institutions) located in at least two different EU Member States or Associated Countries (Countries associated to the 7th Framework Program are: Albania, Croatia, Former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia, Iceland, Israel, Liechtenstein, Norway, Republic of Montenegro, Serbia, Switzerland, and Turkey), and one organization either located in countries with which the European Union has an S&T Agreement (i.e., Argentina, Australia, Brazil, Canada, China, Chile, Egypt, India, Japan, Rep. of Korea, Mexico, Morocco, New Zealand, Russia, South Africa, Tunisia, Ukraine, United States) or in countries covered by the European Neighborhood Policy (Algeria, Armenia, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Egypt, Georgia, Jordan, Lebanon, Libya, Moldova, Morocco, Palestinian-administrated areas, Syrian Arab Republic, Tunisia, Ukraine).

The program will involve short term exchanges (maximum of 12 months) of research staff. Technical and management staff can also participate in the partnership. The staff to be exchanged should be “seconded” (i.e., maintain their salary in their institution of origin and have the right to return, so as to guarantee the full reintegration and the positive recognition of the mobility experience).

The funding under this scheme will cover mobility costs of the “outgoing” European researchers in the amount of €1800 /researcher/month. Contracts between research organizations will be for a period of twenty-four to forty-eight months.

Application deadline: 25 March 2010.
