French Bioscientists networking with the Consulate General of France in LA and the Office for Science and Technology – March 1st 2007
Mar 12th, 2007 | By French BioBeach | Category: Events News, French BioBeach EventsThis first French BioBeach event of the year was targeting the French post-doc community of the San Diego area. Scientists coming from the Salk Institute, the Burnham Institute, The Scripps Research Institute (TSRI), the La Jolla Institute for Allergy & Immunology (LIAI) and UCSD, as well as local biotech companies like Biogen-Idec, Vertex and InvivoGen, were present. We would like to thank them for attending this event.
We were honored by the presence of Dr John Young, Dr Roger Bingham and Nobel laureate Prof Roger Guillemin.
We took this opportunity to introduce French BioBeach to the local community and present the upcoming events for the year. Dr Mireille Guyader from the Office for Science and Technology was our featured guest. As the new Scientific Attaché of the French Consulate in Los Angeles, she presented her job attributions and plans to promote cooperation between French and American scientists coming from both academic and biotech worlds.
Our guest were offered the opportunity to mingle around a nice selection of French cheeses and wines, thanks to the Office for Science and Technology. Now a usual treat, French BIO Beach was happy to organize a raffle with gifts provided by our sponsors. Two winners, Dr Caroline Bourgin-Hierce (Burnham) and Dr Annabelle Mery (Salk) left with 2 gifts baskets of French produces provided by InvivoGen and Dr Anne Bellon (TSRI) won a $50 gift certificate offered by Gilles Fougeres from La Bastide Bistro in Scripps Ranch.
Again, thanks to all of you who attended and made this event a success. Looking forward to meeting you all on April 4th 2007 for our next French-American Biotech Connection.
